Stub Teeth - Gear Nomenclature
Stub teeth are those whose tooth height is lower than that of full depth teeth.
The most commonly used type of teeth are the full depth teeth, but stub teeth are sometimes used to prevent undercutting or to increase the strength of the teeth against breakage.
However, stub teeth also have the disadvantage of low contact ratio.
The tooth thickness of stub teeth is the same as that of the full depth teeth, but the tooth height is lower than that of the full depth teeth.
